Eddy Selected to Pilot with QuadReal as Part of UPPLift Program

Eddy chosen as a winner of the City of Toronto’s first ever UPPLift program.
Eddy was a proud participant of Toronto’s first ever UPPLift program, an innovation accelerator project that included 20 local innovators selected to prepare a proposal and pitch to QuadReal and/or the City of Toronto for a pilot project.
UPPLift is “an urban pilot program that identifies innovations and facilitates live demonstrations of technologies aimed at resolving challenges in the built environment, ensuring that asset owners and managers achieve cost savings, improved operations, and value-added features.” First launched in London, England to help promote the inception and growth of smart cities, UPPLift recently moved to Toronto, with the initial program launching in March.

The test bed partners, the City of Toronto and QuadReal, were on hand throughout the entire program, offering coaching, mentoring, and advice for the innovators. The program also included presentations and networking with top executives from partners including Microsoft, Fasken, and Toronto Hydro. Local innovations included smart waste management, facility planning sensor technology, electrical car charging stations, and smart benches – to name a few.
After several educational sessions, all innovators were invited to submit their pilot project to QuadReal and/or the City of Toronto. Eddy’s solution provides complete water risk mitigation for buildings, and as such was a great fit to submit to all of QuadReal’s asset classes, including industrial/commercial, retail, and multi-family/residential buildings. Eddy was selected as one of 8 innovators to pitch in person to QuadReal’s judges.
The winners of the program were announced at UPPLift’s press conference on May 24th, and we are very happy to report that Eddy was chosen to pilot with QuadReal!
“Water damage is the biggest risk facing building owners and residents, and Eddy’s solution mitigates damage through the use of IoT and automation. Working with QuadReal is indeed a validation not just for Eddy as a company, but also the importance of intelligent water monitoring,” commented Venky Weylagro, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Eddy.
Congratulations to all the innovators who participated in the program, and further congratulations to those chosen to pilot their technology.
