It’s been a busy few weeks at Eddy Home, as we’ve just returned from speaking at two major insurance events: IBAO’s annual conference, and InsurTechTO – both of which included insurance companies, brokerages, and risk specialists in the insurance field.
The IBAO‘s annual conference was held in Ottawa this year, and included thousands of insurance brokers from all over Ontario who learned about new insurance trends and coverages, emerging technologies, and consumer behaviours. Eddy Home was selected as part of their BIP series in the Pechakucha talks. Venky Weylagro, our VP of Sales and Marketing spoke on Eddy’s technology, the looming threat of water damage to homes and condos, and how smart home water monitoring can drastically reduce the risk of damage. Most leading insurance companies offer a discount to homeowners for the installation of systems such as Eddy’s, and insurance brokers need to be aware of how they can protect their clients by reducing risk and ultimately saving them money on their home insurance policy through the installation and use of smart home devices.
It was our first time attending IBAO, and we were overwhelmed with the education, networking, and quality of the sessions. “The IBAO was an excellent event, and gave us the opportunity to connect with so many Ontario brokers,” commented Shkya Ghanbarian, our Director of Sales and Growth Strategy, who specializes in the insurance sector. “Insurance brokers are paramount to bringing the concept of smart homes and IoT to their clients, and leak detection/water monitoring can significantly improve their exposure to risk.”
The following week, we were honoured to be a part of InsurTechTO, a one-day conference dedicated to highlighting technology in the insurance world. Eddy was selected as part of their ‘Pitch Competition,’ where new and emerging companies presented their technology and products in front of a panel. Venky Weylagro presented again – this time with just three minutes to demonstrate Eddy’s smart home water monitoring as well as leak detection solutions and their benefits for insurance companies, insurance brokers, and end consumers such as homeowners, condo-owners, and property managers.
“Eddy Home’s IQ and H2O sensors help consumers be more connected to their homes, through IoT enabled technology that protects them against their biggest risk – water,” elaborated Venky. “Insurance is a tremendous area for our technology, and we’re excited for the opportunity to be a part of IBAO 2017 conference and InsurTechTO.”
