What do you do at our company?
As the “Field Lead” at Eddy, I am responsible for the co-ordination of technicians and materials at each of our jobs and overseeing the progress of those jobs as well. I schedule the technicians all throughout the city as well as out of province and spend a fair bit of time in the field myself. In conjunction with that, a large part of my job revolves around quality assurance for completed projects, analysis of our deployments, as well as generating reports that clearly and concisely illustrate areas of improvement for future jobs. And the final component of my job is to act as a go-between for troubleshooting our product in the field!
I am also head of our Social Committee as well as the Health and Safety Committee with other committees in the works 😊
Where did you grow up, and what were you like as a kid?
I grew up just outside of Toronto in the suburb of Thornhill with my parents and two brothers. I was a wildly excitable kid with a ton of energy and penchant for innocent troublemaking. I also picked up my interest in music and played a number of instruments with a focus on the drums – my parents needed to find ways to tire me out!
What career path did you almost take?
I spent over 12 years in the world of hospitality before joining Eddy. I started out cleaning tables at a local deli and ended up working at some of the best restaurants, bars, nightclubs and event spaces in the city. I completed my Food and Beverage Management Diploma at GBC and also became a Sommelier. Before that, I also spent four years getting my degree in Journalism at Ryerson – if you’ve read any of my emails, you can tell I’m pretty verbose.
What food or drink is always at your desk?
Coffee and Lemon Water, Sour Candy.
Describe your typical day at Eddy.
One of my favorite things about my job is that I rarely have any “typical” days. Some weeks, I’m at my desk putting together reports and service plans, other weeks, I’m servicing properties out of province for long hours. But every day starts with emails, meetings, check-ins and every day ends with more emails 😊
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
It may not be a traditional accomplishment, but raising my two rescue dogs is definitely what I’m most proud of. Chester and Fender are a huge part of my life, so much so that I have a big painting of them above both of my desks.
What has been your favorite project so far?
My favorite project so far has to be Village North – this property in London ON wasn’t complicated in any way. Daniel and I planned everything out, collaborated on our approach and successfully completed all of the work in two days. We had a 99% connectivity rate and it truly felt amazing to have all the hard work pay off! A lot of our deployments have curveballs thrown our way last minute, but Village North was clean and smooth from start to finish.
What’s the most used app on your phone?
Apple Music or Podcasts
If you were given a one-minute ad slot during the Super Bowl, what would you fill it with?
I would fill it with an ad for animal rescues in the GTA. I have always had a deep and sincere connection with dogs and other animals and in my dreams, I own a large plot of land on a lake with all the dogs you can imagine.
