Located in the heart of the Canary District, The West Donlands – Block 8 project is a new mixed-use development developed by Tricon Residential.
This project consists of three towers of 16, 16, and 26 storeys, comprising 770 rental units. The ground floors will be occupied by townhouses and amenity spaces, with two small retail spaces located in the two westernmost buildings.
With 3,900 sq. ft. of retail/commercial space and approximately 3,300 sq. ft. of office space, this development is set to become a new and diverse downtown community.
The project offers 229 affordable units, ranging from the average market rent in Toronto to 40% below average market rent. All 229 affordable units will be dispersed throughout the three buildings for a fully integrated community experience.
Sustainability and accessibility are a priority at The West Donlands – Block 8 project, with a goal to achieve a 17.6% reduction in annual energy use and a 19.1% reduction in annual greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, 30% of the units will be fully accessible or adaptable for those with accessibility needs.
Located just west of the Don River between King Street and the rail corridor, the West Don Lands is centred around the large green space known as Corktown Common.
Formed by the curve of a rail junction, the hilly park offers a relaxing recreational space for people of all ages. For walkers and cyclists, several dedicated trails weave their way through the neighbourhood.
Additionally, the Distillery District is located directly to the west of the neighbourhood, giving residents easy access to its culinary and cultural offerings.
