Privacy policy

Last updated June 4, 2026

Eddy Smart Home Solutions Inc., operating as Eddy Solutions ("Eddy", "we", "us", "our"), respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have.

This policy applies to the eddysolutions.com website, including our marketing pages, interactive tools, forms, downloads, and the Eddy chat assistant, and to our interactions with you by email, phone, and at events.

The Eddy monitored leak-detection service and the Eddy Dashboard are provided to building owners, managers, and operators under a separate customer agreement. Where a customer agreement conflicts with this policy, the customer agreement controls for the data covered by it.

This policy does not cover third-party websites or services that we link to. Their privacy practices are their own.

The short version

  • We collect the information you give us through forms, tools, downloads, the chat assistant, and direct contact, plus standard technical information when you visit the site.
  • We use it to respond to you, provide and improve our service, send communications you have asked for, and run our business securely and lawfully.
  • We use a small number of trusted service providers to operate the site. We do not sell your personal information.
  • You can access, correct, or delete your information, withdraw consent, and opt out of marketing at any time. Contact privacy@eddysolutions.com.
  • We are based in Canada with a United States office, and we process data in Canada and the United States.

The sections below give the full detail.

Information we collect

Information you give us

When you fill in a form, request information, use one of our tools, download a resource, book a meeting, or contact us, you may provide:

  • Contact details. Name, business email, phone number, and the company or organization you represent.
  • Role and context. Job title, the type of audience you belong to (for example property manager, owner, broker, general contractor, or operator), and your stated interest.
  • Property and project details. Building or facility name and address, asset type, building age, number of floors and units, square footage, HVAC system type, project stage, and notes you choose to share.
  • Insurance details, where relevant. Insurance carrier, broker name and email, and renewal date (for example in a property intake form).
  • Files you upload. Documents such as building drawings or plans that you attach to an intake form (PDF, DWG, JPG, or PNG).
  • Messages and free text. Anything you type into a message field, a project notes field, or the Eddy chat assistant.
  • Meeting bookings. If you book time with our team through an embedded scheduling tool, that booking is handled by the scheduling provider.

You decide what to share. Some fields are required to provide what you have asked for, and others are optional.

Information we collect automatically

When you visit the site, we and our service providers collect standard technical information:

  • Device and connection data. IP address, browser type, operating system, and referring page.
  • Usage data. Pages viewed, links clicked, time on page, and similar interaction data.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. Small files and identifiers used for site function, analytics, and attribution.
  • Page visit data on personalized links. When you open a personalized page sent to you (an eddysolutions.com/for/... link), we record that the link was opened, along with the page URL, the referring page, your browser user agent, and the time.

Information from third parties

We may receive information about you from:

  • Referrals and partners. For example, an insurance broker, a general contractor, or a property management company that introduces you to us.
  • Publicly available and business sources. For example, a company website or a professional profile, used to understand whether Eddy is relevant to your organization.

We combine this with the information you give us so that our communications are relevant and accurate.

We do not knowingly collect special categories of sensitive personal information through the website, and we ask that you do not submit them in free-text fields.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Respond to your request. Send the report, quote, plan, or information you asked for, and follow up about it.
  • Provide and operate our tools. Run the calculators, the system builder, the plan builder, and the chat assistant, and deliver the outputs you generate.
  • Provide and support our service. Set up, deliver, and support the Eddy monitored service for customers.
  • Communicate with you. Answer questions, schedule meetings, and send service and transactional messages.
  • Market to you, with your consent where required. Send newsletters, event invitations, case studies, and offers you can opt out of at any time. We send commercial electronic messages in line with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
  • Improve the site and our service. Understand how the site is used, fix problems, and develop better content and features.
  • Keep things secure and lawful. Protect the site and our users against fraud and abuse, enforce our terms, and meet legal and regulatory obligations.

Our basis for processing

We process personal information on the following bases:

  • Your consent, for marketing communications and non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Performance of a contract, to provide a service or tool you have requested.
  • Our legitimate business purposes, to operate, secure, and improve our business and the site.
  • Compliance with a legal obligation.

Where Canadian law applies, we collect, use, and disclose personal information with your consent (express or implied) and for purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances.

The Eddy chat assistant

The site offers a chat assistant that answers questions about Eddy. When you use it:

  • What is sent. The messages you type, the role you select, and basic page context (the page path and title) are sent to a third-party AI model provider through an AI gateway so the assistant can generate a reply. Your IP address is used to limit abuse of the feature.
  • What is stored. Your conversation is kept in your browser for the duration of your session so the thread is preserved while you browse. We do not store chat transcripts on our servers as a record.
  • What not to share. Please do not enter passwords, payment details, or sensitive personal information in the chat. For anything confidential, contact us directly.

The assistant provides general information. It does not make decisions about you and its answers are not a substitute for a proposal or a contract.

How we share information

We share personal information only as described here. We do not sell your personal information.

Service providers (processors)

We use trusted providers to run the site and our operations. They may process personal information only on our instructions and for the purposes we set. We can provide more detail about the providers we use on request.

Partners, with your consent

When you ask us to, we share relevant information with partners involved in your request, for example your insurance carrier or broker, or a general contractor on a construction project. We share only what is needed for that purpose.

Corporate affiliates

We may share information within the Eddy group of companies to operate our business and serve you.

Legal, safety, and business transfers

We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that it is necessary to comply with the law or a valid legal request, to protect the rights, property, or safety of Eddy, our users, or the public, or in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will require the recipient to honor this policy.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files placed on your device. We and our providers use cookies and similar technologies (such as pixels and tracking links) for the following purposes:

  • Strictly necessary. Run the site and remember your cookie choice. For example, we set a consent cookie when you respond to the cookie banner.
  • Analytics. Understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
  • Marketing and attribution. Measure campaigns and connect your form submissions to the page and campaign that led you to us.

Your controls

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and signal a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track preference. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.

Marketing communications and your choices

If you receive marketing email from us, you can unsubscribe using the link in any message. You can also email privacy@eddysolutions.com to update your preferences or opt out of marketing by email, phone, or mail.

These choices do not apply to service and transactional messages that are part of a product or request, such as confirming a download or responding to an inquiry. Those messages do not have an unsubscribe option because they are not marketing.

We send commercial electronic messages in line with CASL, including identifying ourselves and providing an unsubscribe mechanism.

Text messages (SMS). If you provide your phone number when you contact us, an Eddy advisor may reply by text about your request. Standard message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to opt out, or HELP for help. We do not sell or share mobile numbers or text-messaging consent with third parties or our affiliates for their own marketing.

The Eddy service and dashboard (customers)

For building owners, managers, and operators who buy the Eddy monitored leak-detection service, we process additional information under the customer agreement:

  • Account information for authorized users of the Eddy Dashboard, such as name, work contact details, and role.
  • Water-system data from the building, such as flow, temperature, humidity, and the presence of water, captured by Eddy sensors and meters. This data is about the building's water systems.
  • Monitoring and response records, such as alerts, the contact and escalation log for an event, actions taken, and the Leak Incident Report produced at event close.

We use this information to deliver and support the service, respond to events, document outcomes for the customer, and improve the service.

Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, and then we delete or anonymize it. How long that is depends on:

  • The reason we collected it. For example, an active customer relationship is kept for the life of the relationship and a reasonable period after.
  • Legal, tax, and accounting requirements.
  • The need to resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.

Specific points:

  • Lead and contact records are retained in our CRM while there is a prospective or active relationship and for a reasonable period after, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
  • Files you upload through an intake form are stored to process your request.
  • Chat conversations are kept in your browser session and are not stored by us as a server-side record.

You can ask us to delete your information at any time.

Security and storage

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss and unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Eddy is based in Canada with an office in the United States. We and our service providers store and process personal information in Canada and the United States.

Your privacy rights

Subject to your location and applicable law, you have rights over your personal information. We honor these rights regardless of where you live, to the extent the law allows.

  • Access. Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction. Ask us to fix information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Deletion. Ask us to delete your information.
  • Withdraw consent. Withdraw consent where we rely on it, including for marketing, at any time.
  • Object or restrict. Object to or ask us to restrict certain processing.
  • Portability. Ask for your information in a portable format, where the right applies.

Canada

You may access and correct your personal information and challenge our compliance with Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial laws.

United States

If you are a resident of California or another state with a privacy law (such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, or Texas), you have rights to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of certain processing. We do not sell personal information for money. You may exercise rights without discrimination.

How to exercise your rights

Email privacy@eddysolutions.com or write to us at the address in the contact section below. We may need to verify your identity. We will respond within the time required by law, and within 30 days where no shorter period applies. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows.

Children's privacy

The site and our service are intended for businesses and professionals, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of majority in their jurisdiction. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
